No software needed

You don't need the TeraBox desktop client or any downloader software. Every modern browser can handle it: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, Opera and Safari. That means nothing runs in the background, nothing to update, and no admin rights needed. It's ideal for work, school or library computers.

Keyboard shortcuts that save time

Ctrl+V / Cmd+V: paste the link into the box.
Enter: start the lookup.
Ctrl+J / Cmd+Shift+J: open your browser's downloads list.
Ctrl+Shift+N / Cmd+Shift+N: open a private window on a shared computer.

Choose where files go

By default, files land in Downloads. To save straight to an external drive or a project folder:

Chrome/Edge: Settings > Downloads > turn on "Ask where to save each file".
Firefox: Settings > General > Files and Applications > "Always ask you where to save files".
Safari: Settings > General > File download location.

Fast downloads on PC

Use an Ethernet cable for big files if you can.
Pause cloud sync apps (OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud) while downloading.
Turn off VPNs and proxies that slow your connection.

Playing downloaded videos on PC

Windows' Movies & TV app and Mac's QuickTime play MP4. For MKV and other formats, install VLC. Want to watch before saving? The TeraBox player online streams in the browser with full-screen support.

Linux and Chromebook

On Linux, Firefox and Chromium work like on any other system. On a Chromebook, files are saved to the Files app under Downloads, and you can move them to Google Drive from there.

Safety on shared computers

Don't sign into TeraBox on a computer you don't own. You don't need to, since this tool doesn't need a login. Clear your downloads when you leave, and use a private window.

Working with downloaded files on PC

After downloading, a few habits save time:

Check the file. Right-click and choose Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac) to confirm the size matches what the tool showed.
Extract archives carefully. Use 7-Zip on Windows or the built-in Archive Utility on Mac. Scan archives from unknown sources with your antivirus before opening them.
Back up what matters. Copy important files to an external drive or another cloud. A single copy on one laptop isn't a backup.

Using two screens

With a second monitor, keep this page on one screen and your file manager on the other. Drag finished downloads into project folders as they arrive. It's the fastest way to work through a big share.

Windows SmartScreen and Mac Gatekeeper

If Windows or macOS warns you about a downloaded file, take it seriously. Videos, photos and PDFs rarely trigger these warnings. Programs do. Don't run programs from shares you don't fully trust.
