TeraBox Link Expired? What It Means and What You Can Do
Try the free TeraBox downloader →
You open a TeraBox link and see "This share has expired", "Share not found", or a download that suddenly fails. Expired links are frustrating, but the cause is usually simple. This guide explains the different kinds of expiry, how to recognise each one and what you can actually do.
Two kinds of "expired"
When people say a TeraBox link expired, they usually mean one of two things.
1. The share link expired The owner created a share with a validity period (for example 1, 7 or 30 days), or cancelled it manually, or deleted the files. The share link itself no longer works for anyone, on any domain or tool.
2. The direct download link expired When you use a TeraBox link downloader, the tool turns the share link into a temporary direct link for each file. Those direct links are only valid for a limited time. If you wait too long before downloading, or a download manager retries later, the direct link stops working, but the share itself is fine.
How to tell which one you have
- "Share not found", "expired" or an empty file list when you paste the share link: the share link expired or was deleted.
- The file list loads fine, but the download fails or the video won't start: the direct link probably expired. Paste the share link again.
- "Unsupported link" or "invalid link": the link is badly formed, not expired. See TeraBox link formats explained.
If the direct link expired: the easy fix
- Go back to TeraBox Download.
- Paste the original share link again.
- Press Download to generate a fresh direct link.
- Start the download right away.
If you use a download manager, copy the new link into it immediately rather than queueing it for later.
If the share link expired: what recipients can do
Ask the owner for a new link This is the only reliable option. The owner can re-share the same files in seconds if they still have them.
Check for a newer link In groups and channels, owners often post an updated link after the old one expires. Look for recent messages.
Check for typos Make sure the link wasn't cut off when you copied it. A missing character looks just like an expired link.
What doesn't work No website, bot or app can bring back an expired or deleted share. Tools that claim to "recover expired TeraBox links" are scams or show unrelated content. Don't enter personal information on them.
Why owners set expiry dates
Expiry protects owners. A link that expires after 7 days can't keep spreading for years if it's forwarded. TeraBox may also remove shares that break its rules, such as content reported for copyright or abuse. So an "expired" link can sometimes mean the content was taken down.
For owners: creating links that last as long as you need
- Open TeraBox and select the file or folder.
- Tap Share.
- Choose a validity: short for private transfers, longer for ongoing projects.
- Add an extraction code if the files are private.
- Copy and send the link.
To extend access, create a new share before the old one expires and send the new link. Our guide on sharing TeraBox files safely has a full checklist.
Download before it expires: practical tips
- Download important files as soon as you get the link.
- For big folders, download in batches so a sudden expiry doesn't leave you with nothing. See how to download a TeraBox folder.
- Keep a backup of files you'll need again.
- Use Wi-Fi and a real browser so downloads don't fail midway.
Expired link vs other errors
Too many requests This is a temporary limit, not an expiry. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Video won't play This is usually a codec or browser problem. See TeraBox video not playing.
Site won't load This is a DNS or network issue, not the TeraBox link. Try mobile data or set Private DNS to one.one.one.one.

Respect removed content
If a share disappeared because of a copyright complaint, don't go looking for copies elsewhere. Only download content you own or have rights to. Rights holders can report content found through our tool on the DMCA page.
FAQ
How long do TeraBox share links last? As long as the owner chose when creating them, from one day to permanent, unless the owner cancels them or TeraBox removes them.
How long does a direct download link from TeraBox Download last? It's temporary, often a few hours or less. Generate it right before you download.
Can I see when a link will expire? Recipients usually can't. Owners see the validity in their list of shares in the TeraBox app.
Is an expired link my fault? Almost never. It depends on the owner's settings or TeraBox's moderation.
Summary
If the file list loads but the download fails, just paste the link into TeraBox Download again for a fresh direct link. If the share itself has expired, only the owner can fix it by sharing again. No tool can bring back a deleted share.
Example scenarios
"The link worked yesterday, today it says not found" The share probably had a short validity period, or the owner cancelled it. Ask for a new link.
"The list loads but every download fails" The direct links expired, or TeraBox is limiting requests. Paste the link again, wait a few minutes if needed and download right away.
"The link works on my friend's phone but not mine" That's not an expiry. It's usually a network, DNS or in-app browser issue. Open the link in Chrome or Safari, or switch networks.
"Half the files in the folder disappeared" The owner removed some files, or some were taken down. Only the remaining files can be downloaded.
Keeping your own collection safe If files matter to you, don't rely on someone else's share staying online. With the owner's permission, download them and keep a backup on your device, an external drive or your own cloud storage.
More questions
Will pasting an expired link into a different downloader help?
No. Every tool reads the same share from TeraBox, so if the share is gone, it's gone for all of them.
