How to Resume a Failed or Stuck TeraBox Download (Chrome, IDM, wget, aria2)
Quick answer: Open Downloads in Chrome and press Resume, or copy the file link into IDM, 1DM, wget -c or aria2c -c to continue from where it stopped. If the link expired, paste the share link into teraboxdownload.com again and use the fresh link with the same file name.

A 4 GB video that dies at 93% is one of the most annoying things about cloud downloads. The good news: in most cases you do not have to start from zero. This guide explains why TeraBox downloads stop halfway and how to resume a failed TeraBox download in Chrome, on Android, in a download manager such as IDM, and from the command line with wget or aria2. Every method starts the same way: open your share link in the TeraBox downloader and press Download.
Why TeraBox downloads stop halfway
Understanding the cause tells you which fix to use:
- Unstable connection. Mobile data switching between towers or Wi-Fi sleeping is the number one cause. The browser gives up after a few seconds without data.
- Server-side speed limits. Free TeraBox storage is throttled, and a very slow stream can time out. See why TeraBox downloads are slow.
- Temporary links. Download links are signed and expire after a while. A paused download resumed hours later may be refused, and you need a fresh link.
- Phone power saving. Android and iOS pause background downloads to save battery, especially when the screen is off.
- Full storage. If your phone or disk runs out of space, the download ends with a vague "failed" message.
- Browser limits. Some browsers only allow one connection per file and do not resume once the tab is closed.
First: check whether it really failed
Before you restart anything, look at the file size. If the partial file is a fraction of the size shown on the file list, it is incomplete. A video that plays for a few minutes and then freezes is almost always a truncated download, not a broken file. Compare with the size listed in the downloader, and if it matches, the file is complete and the issue is the player: see TeraBox video not playing.
Resume in Chrome (Android and PC)
Chrome can resume downloads, but only while it still knows the download.
- Open Downloads (Ctrl+J on PC, menu → Downloads on Android).
- If the item shows Resume or a circular arrow, tap or click it.
- If you see Failed with no resume button, the link has expired. Go back to the downloader, paste the share link again and start a new download.
- Do not clear the partial file first. Chrome keeps it as a
.crdownloadfile and may continue from it.
On Android, keep the screen on, disable battery saver for Chrome and stay on one network while a large file downloads. Our iPhone and Android guide has more phone-specific settings.
Resume with IDM, FDM or 1DM
Download managers are built for this job. They split the file into several parts, retry failed parts and remember what is finished.
- In the downloader, copy the link of the file. On a phone use the Copy link button; on PC right-click Download and choose Copy link address.
- Paste it into IDM (Windows), Free Download Manager, or 1DM / ADM on Android.
- If the connection drops, the manager retries on its own. If it shows an error, press Resume or Refresh address.
- If the link has expired, copy a fresh one from the downloader and use Refresh address (IDM) or replace the URL (1DM) so the manager keeps the partial file.
The full setup is covered in download TeraBox files with IDM, FDM or 1DM. Do not run more than 4 to 8 connections per file; more connections do not make a throttled server faster and can cause errors.
Resume with wget (Windows, Mac, Linux)
If you are comfortable with a terminal, wget has a built-in resume flag. After copying the file link from the downloader, run:
wget -c -O video.mp4 "PASTE-THE-LINK-HERE"
The -c flag continues a partial file named video.mp4 from where it stopped. Keep the quotes around the link, because it contains characters the shell would otherwise cut. If the server answers with an error such as 403 or 410, the link expired, so copy a new one and run the same command again. As long as the output name is the same, wget will continue from the existing bytes.
The same idea works with curl: curl -C - -o video.mp4 "PASTE-THE-LINK-HERE". The -C - option tells curl to find the resume point itself.
Resume with aria2
aria2 is a free command-line downloader that is excellent for big files because it can split a download and retry automatically:
aria2c -c -x 4 -s 4 -o video.mp4 "PASTE-THE-LINK-HERE"
-cresumes a partial download (aria2 also keeps a small.aria2control file next to it).-x 4 -s 4uses four connections. Going higher rarely helps with free-tier speeds.- Run the same command again after any interruption to continue.
If the link has expired, copy a fresh one and keep the same -o file name so aria2 can find the partial file.
When resuming does not work
- The file restarts from 0%. The server did not honour the resume request, or the link belongs to a different session. Delete the partial file and start again with a fresh link.
- File size ends bigger than expected. Mixed partial files from two different links. Delete and download again.
- Same error every time. The share itself may be gone: TeraBox link expired explains how to tell, and fix TeraBox download errors lists the common messages.
- Folder with many files. Download files one at a time, or follow the folder download guide, so one failure does not cost you the rest.
Tips to avoid failed downloads
- Use Wi-Fi for anything over 500 MB and keep the device plugged in.
- Turn off VPNs that switch servers while you download.
- Free storage first: you need at least the file size plus a little extra.
- Download at quieter hours if speeds are poor; free servers are busiest in the evening.
- Preview big videos in the online player before downloading, so you only fetch what you need.
- Verify the finished size against the file list.
Resuming is safe and does not change the original file, but as always, only download files that you own or have permission to use.
More questions
Can I resume a TeraBox download after the link expired?
Usually yes: get a fresh link from the downloader and keep the same file name or use Refresh address in your download manager so the partial file is reused.
Why does my TeraBox download stop at 99%?
Most often an unstable connection, a power-saving pause on your phone or a link that timed out. Resume it or retry with a download manager.
